(EN/FR) Philosophy of science - Part I [350 BCE-1800 CE] (2017)

University of Agder

WHAT IS SCIENCE? A historical journey through the history of philosophy of science.

How can science contribute to pluralism in society and at the same time provide valid knowledge?

In this course, we will take you on a journey through the history of western philosophy of science, and show how philosophers and scientists have tried to answer this question.

Part I takes you from the Antiquity to the Enlightenment (350 BC-1800 AC). Throughout this period, science emerges and becomes a central activity in society.
