(FR/EN) Jean-Marie Frey - Religion, a medium of oppression or an obstacle to oppression?

2016

Is faith only an illusion caused in the mind by life in society? Is it only an alienating social fact? Doesn’t a true religious feeling lead the spirit, on the contrary, to envisage the overcoming of the power relations which reign in the City? Doesn’t religion reveal man’s aspiration to a liberating beyond? In this conference, Jean-Marie Frey provides answers to these questions. Jean-Marie Frey (1961) is a Professor of Higher Education and teaches in preparatory classes for the Grandes Écoles. He holds an agrégation in philosophy and a D.E.A. devoted to the thought of happiness in the philosophy of J.-J. Rousseau. In his works, he reflects on the body and on the antinomy of freedom and happiness.
